When the month of fasting begain. Better known as ‘Ramzan’, this month is observed by Muslims all across the world. They fast -- or keep ‘rozas’ during the day. They don’t eat OR drink throughout the day and eat in the evening, when the sun sets. These are basic facts known by all, but we’re here to tell you a little more!

Ramadan, (spelled Ramzan, Ramadhan, or Ramathan) is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, observed by Muslims all over the world as a month of fasting (sawm), prayer, reflection and community. A tribute to Muhammad's first revelation, the annual observance of Ramzan is regarded as one of the Five Pillars of Islam and lasts twenty-nine to thirty days. Ramzan is a time of spiritual reflection, self-improvement, and heightened devotion and worship.

Now, since you know what Ramzan’s all about - let’s talk about what follows it!

What follows Ramzan is the biggest Islamic festival - Eid Ul Fitr (also Eid Al Fitr, Eid, etc.)!

The festival of Eid, also called the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", is a religious holiday celebrated by Muslims across the globe, that marks the end of the month-long fasting of Ramzan.

Eid al-Fitr usually features two to three days of celebrations, that include special morning prayers. People greet each other with “Eid Mubarak,” and with heartfelt embraces. Sweet dishes called Sewaiyan (we know you’re drooling already!) are prepared at home and gifts are given to children and to those in need. As Muslims, it is expected to seek forgiveness and forgive, during this period.

Your crash course on what Eid is all about is done! Now we talk about how to make Eid special for yourself and for your friends.

While mostly nobody understands what to do, we’ll help you figure a few things out.

To start off - get ready! Eid is all about getting dressed up! Dress up like you’re going for the Cannes Film Festival or Met Gala - with full makeup on, hair blow dried, eyebrows done/beard set and with your fanciest pair of shoes on. Might seem a little over the top -  but hey man, it is what it is! It’s a major celebration for all Muslims, and they go all out. As should you! Put your best game face on, my friends.

The next thing to do, without a doubt, is to grab a gift. That’s where New King Bakers comes in. We have a WHOLE section of products, dedicated to gifting on Eid. The last and MOST important thing to do after you’re done with the gift is to visit your friend’s house and GO ALL OUT! This is one day where Muslims make a grand, GRAND feast with multiple dishes. From the yummy sewaiyan, sheer khurma, mutton, chicken, kebabs to parathas, sherbat and mithai, we assure you, you DO NOT want to hold yourself back this day - or you’ll regret it!
